Worst “best albums” list ever?

Here’s is Time Magazine’s idea of an “all-time best albums” list.

Hmm, where to start? First off, I think it is wrong to have albums appearing that are compilations from prior decades. There were genuinely good compilations of, say, Hank Williams, a long time ago; so it seems silly that he would get a slot in the 00’s. Then there is the question as to why the 70’s would get more albums than other decades. Doubtless they would argue that it was the heyday of the album format. But surely there were was many great albums in the 80s. Notice that there are few independent labels for the 80’s and 90’s — what’s up with that? And then there’s the question of what’s missing. Liz Phair? Hüsker Dü? Talking Heads? DEVO? The Fall? Captain Beefheart?
